Key facts
The countries in the European Union (EU) have been implementing the new Community regulations on the coordination of national social security schemes since 1 May 2010. The EU regulations make provision for the electronic exchange of data in the area of social security. Switzerland is involved in this exchange of data in accordance with the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons and implements the requirements with the SNAP-EESSI programme.
