The Swiss Federal Audit Office is the supreme audit
institution of the Confederation. It assists parliament
and the Federal Council, is independent and is bound
only by the Constitution and the law. Its mandate is set out in the Federal Audit Office Act.
The SFAO audits the financial conduct of the Federal Administration and of numerous semi-government bodies
and international organisations.

More discipline and controlling for federal purchases
In 2014, the Federal Administration spent more than CHF 5.5 billion on goods and services, as well as on construction services. The Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO) performed several audits on this topic. There are shortcomings in these procurement processes. The strategic role of the Federal Procurement Conference, in particular, has to be strengthened. The Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics (FOBL) has accepted the SFAO's recommendations.

The Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO) has audited professional reintegration measures. These measures must be organised more in the mainstream labour market. Temporary employment programmes must be reserved for people who are likely to face long-term unemployment.
