Der Bundesrat beschloss am 18. Dezember 1998, dass f\u00fcr die Bundesverwaltung eine Zertifizierungsinfrastruktur aufgebaut werden sollte. Das Bundesamt f\u00fcr Informatik und Telekommunikation (BIT), damals noch mit anderer Amtsbezeichnung, hat sich dieses Auftrags angenommen. Daraus ist \u00fcber die Jahre die heutige Swiss Government Public Key Infrastructure (SG PKI) entstanden bzw. gewachsen, zuerst als Querschnittsdienstleistung, seit 2014 als Teilprodukt des Standarddienstes Identity und Accessmanagement. F\u00fcr die F\u00fchrung und Steuerung von Standarddiensten (SD) ist das Informatiksteuerungsorgan (ISB) verantwortlich.
