Audit Language promotion subsidies - Federal Office of Culture

The Swiss Federal Audit Office (SFAO) conducted an audit of the effectiveness of language promotion subsidies at the Federal Office of Culture (FOC). The FOC promotes multilingualism and communication between the language communities in Switzerland with around CHF 15 million per year. Around half of these funds go to the cantons of Ticino and Graubünden to support Italian and preserve Romansh as a national language.

Audit Supervision of copyright management organisations - Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property

Five organisations manage copyright in Switzerland. They are ProLitteris, Société Suisse des Auteurs (SSA), SUISA, Suissimage and Swissperform. Each of them is specialised in specific fields (literature, visual arts, music, etc.). They are authorised and have de facto monopoly status for the mandatory collective management of rights. In 2021, these rights were worth around CHF 300 million. The Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI) is responsible for the supervision of the management organisations.

Audit Efficiency of the award procedure for subsidies to museums and collections - Federal Office of Culture

The Federal Office of Culture (FOC) is responsible for the development and implementation of the federal cultural policy. Among other things, it grants financial aid to museums, collections and third-party networks for the preservation of cultural heritage. In 2021, the FOC pays a total of CHF 5.7 million in operating subsidies to twelve museums and CHF 6.4 million to seven networks.
