Welcome
to the Swiss Federal Audit Office
The
Swiss Federal Audit Office is the supreme supervisory organ of the
Confederation. It supports Parliament and the Federal Council, is
independent and is bound only by the Federal Constitution and the
law. The scope of its mandate is clearly laid down in the Federal
Auditing Act. The SFAO scrutinises the financial conduct
of the Federal Administration and that of numerous semi-government
bodies and international organisations. Decisive in its audit
activities are the criteria of performance and efficacy, as well
as compliance with the rules and legal provisions and we also
invest in Performance Audit and
Evaluation.
The
Swiss Federal Audit Office is a government agency which is
assigned to the Federal Department of Finance , but is not, however,
subject to its instructions. It employs around 25 female and 70
male employees drawn from various professions, such as bookkeepers,
auditors and accountants, lawyers, economists, political
scientists, IT auditors and specialists from the construction
industry.
On our website you can find specifically the Annual
Reports of the SFAO, individual audit
reports, circulars such as press
releases, positions
vacant, information on the historical
development of the SFAO, as well as information on its legal
basis and guidelines
to complete the picture. Numerous links to supervisory bodies
abroad and in Switzerland, as well as links to further
institutions, provide an overview of the SFAO’s network.
